Los Angeles - DreamHost.com, the web hosting product developed by New Dream Network, LLC, has introduced Quicktime Streaming Server (Darwin) as a new option for customers interested in adding multimedia to their online ventures. The option is available on all hosting plans.
According to Apple's web site, "Darwin is a server technology which allows you to send streaming QuickTime data to clients across the Internet using the industry standard RTP and RTSP protocols. It is based on the same code as Apple's Quicktime Streaming Server."
This option has been long demanded by DreamHost customers. By making Quicktime Streaming available, DreamHost hopes to reach an untapped niche in the web hosting industry, offering their reliable and friendly service in addition to the multidimensional capabilities of powerful Quicktime media to customers worldwide.
DreamHost Webhosting ( http://www.dreamhost.com/ ) is an affiliate of New Dream Network, LLC. DreamHost has been keeping prices down and servers up since July 1997. Through offering friendly and dependable service, DreamHost has seen itself grow to host over 25,000 domains. Their servers run Debian Linux and are one hop from the Internet backbone via redundant T3s from tier one providers. Their web hosting services start at $9.95 a month and allow customers to host their own domain name, and range to high end dedicated servers.
