It was originally created to be an XHTML/CSS-friendly version of osCommerce, but I think it has since grown into a better package than its "parent". If I had one criticism of it, I would have to say that it is the fact that it doesn't cost anything. The Zen Cart exists on donations, which means it doesn't get the intensive development that rival packages have; nevertheless, it is a great piece of software and I have no trouble recommending it. Zen Cart has been around for quite a while. It was originally created to be an XHTML/CSS-friendly version of osCommerce, but I think it has since grown into a better package than its “parent”.
